Valentine's Party

Most of our CC group was able to gather at the house of one of our families on Saturday night for a time of fellowship, worship and fun. While there the students participating in our early morning choir shared two of the songs they had been working on. They also had a great time exchanges many creative, home-made Valentines.

Masters class commercials

The Masters class was tasked with doing a one minute commercial for presentation time last week. They each did a great job and promoted some very creative products.

Week 17

As we've done with each week this block, someone acted out the artist we studied. We found Mrs. Ritter playing Michelango and thoroughly engrossed in her 'ceiling' painting. She was not pleased with our disturbance so we quickly departed. The previous artists also come back to visit in an effort to help us remember their names and a bit about each.

We're taking a winter break this next week, which leaves time for a field trip to the Denver Art Museum where we'll get to see the works of many different artists who use many different mediums.

Week 16

We finally got into the Challenge class with a camera this week. Video would probably be better as there is always much discussion going on, but this gives you a small glimpse.

Our art project was quite loud with many hammers flying throughout the morning as the students tried to recreate Durer's stamping methods. We found that larger holes would have made for a more dramatic stamp.

Week 13

Our CC group started back up this week after our holiday break. The Lord blessed everyone with a safe vacation and time to relax our brains for a bit. Foundations began a new block, switching from tin whistle instruction to studying the great artists and leaving our nature walking behind in order to conduct experiments centering on God’s amazing, natural creation.

We opened up this week with some science fun in our family presentation. Dry ice experiments always provide lots to oooooh and ahhhhh over.

The students studied Giotto’s art and technique during their art time and then got to practice a bit for themselves. They mixed their own paints by grinding chalk and mixing it with egg yolk. This made for some very bright colors and beautiful pictures.

We continue to move ahead with our timeline and grammar memorization. Some of the students returned from the holidays ready to go for Memory Master. Please pray for them as they work hard to accomplish this difficult task

CC Fall Celebration

We ended our first semester with a family dinner and celebration. It was great to see the dads get to know each other a bit since all the moms and kids have become friends. I think all will agree when I say everyone of us are blessed by each other’s participation in our CC group. The children and parents involved are a blessing to all.

After a wonderful Mexican potluck we got to see a presentation from each class to get a glimpse of all that is being learned while participating in CC.

CC Fall Overview

Our fall semester consisted of much change and inconsistency, but God was so good to see us through it all. New families joined us and doubled the size or our community, bringing some wonderful additions to the group and also creating a need for more classes. Now we are meeting with the usual four age-group classrooms and working out the tutor issues that come with growing.

We studied God's amazing creation with our earth science experiments and nature walks. We all got to make some joyful noises unto the Lord with our tin whistles and we grew closer as a 'family' while educating and loving our children.
